Freeport Indonesia copper mine union announced the cancellation of the strike plan

JAKARTA, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Workers at Freeport-McMoRan Inc's Indonesian copper mine project announced the cancellation of a one-month strike scheduled to begin next week after a two- Day negotiations with the management finally reached an agreement.


     September 27 four miners killed in the accident, three representatives of the union after nearly 11,000 miners agreed from November 6 to December 6 strike, requiring employers to change the management of the local.


     Trade union spokesman Juli Parorrongan told reporters: "The strike is canceled."


     "Through intense and constructive dialogue, we have succeeded in finding a win-win solution," Trade Union senior official Sudiro said in a statement.


     "Our goal is to create a safe and efficient working environment for every worker in the Freeport Indonesia copper mine."


     Freeport Indonesia project has about 2.4 million employees, is not yet linked to the management of the matter to comment.
